Australia is home to some of the most beautiful landscapes on earth, and many of these stunning views are to be found in the Australian Outback. Yet, the Outback is also one of the most dangerous places in the country. Off-roading in the Outback, whether you are doing so for commercial or for recreational reasons, requires ample preparations and safety precautions.

You Need a Powerful Off-Road Vehicle

As an experienced commercial body designer, we understand the rigorous demands of the Australian Outback and create service bodies that can withstand the harsh conditions you will encounter. We offer both recreational and emergency fit-out designs that perform superbly off-road.

Our service bodies are durable, pass safety requirements, and can be fitted with accessories that increase travel safety, including LED lighting, cameras, sensors and more. These accessories are ideal for navigating in the dark and for avoiding collisions with animals, boulders and other obstacles. Our service bodies are a great addition to your SUV or truck.

Lighting and Navigation

It is extremely easy to get lost while travelling in the Outback, so be sure that your vehicle has sufficient light sources and navigation equipment. If you plan to travel at night, you will need powerful overhead lights, as well as strip lights all around your vehicle. It is not just about seeing where you are going — your vehicle must also be visible to others.

Be sure to bring some kind of navigation system — being equipped with GPS is good, but be sure to have a contingency plan in case it fails. A paper map and a compass will help you find your way in case your GPS runs out of battery or becomes damaged.

Emergency Supplies

Always have emergency supplies with you while in the Outback. Along with food, candles, matches, extra batteries and water, you will need to have a complete first aid kit. Be sure to include Epinephrine or an EpiPen, as insect stings and bites are common.

These are just some of the safety precautions you should take while travelling in the harsh Australian Outback.
